Kensington has been home to the Royal Family since the 17th Century and is one of London’s most desirable areas to live. Kensington has properties of all shapes and sizes, from small flats in converted buildings, to large lateral apartments in mansion blocks as well as impressive detached mansions in Holland Park. And at the top end of the scale there’s Kensington Palace Gardens which is home to both billionaires and embassies.

Kensington benefits from the beautiful open spaces of Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, and some of the best shopping in London with Kensington High Street being home to global brands as well as local fashion boutiques. For foodies, the expansive Whole Foods Market in The Barkers Building sells all sorts of luxury food items as well as daily essentials, and there is a large choice of restaurants, bars and cafes for those who like to eat out – these include The Ivy Garden, The Scarsdale Pub, Aubaine, and many others.

Culturally there is plenty on offer in the neighbourhood, with The Royal Albert Hall offering spectacular all-year-round productions and the Holland Park Opera which puts on many sought after shows in the summer months. There have been some impressive new developments in the area in recent years, with Northacre developing Earls Terrace, Observatory Gardens and Academy Gardens in the early 2000’s. More recent developments include One Kensington Gardens, Wycombe Square, and Holland Park Villas. Some of the more sought-after addresses are the Phillimores, Victoria Road, and Kensington Square.

The area is served by High Street Kensington tube on the circle and district lines, as well as South Kensington station and Gloucester Road station on the District, Circle, and Piccadilly lines, and Notting Hill Gate station to the north which is on the Central line. Buses in the area are plentiful, with ten bus routes servicing Kensington High Street and a further nine servicing Notting Hill Gate.
