Home of the week: A Playboy Mansion with spectacular views across London.

Victor Lownes, who created the Playboy clubs with Hugh Hefner, was a man of contradictions. A flamboyant “swashbuckling” American, he nevertheless embraced a traditional British lifestyle, spending his later life in one of the quietest corners of Belgravia. It was by the drawing room’s corner window over a game of backgammon that Lownes agreed to buy the three-bedroom house from Cornfeld, moving in in 1988. It is now available for £5.5 million (off-market) with Tedworth Property.
