Firstly, many wealthy international families from all over the world come to London in the lead up to Christmas and aspire to own property here, making the decision to act on this aspiration while they are visiting. Secondly, many businesses are quieter so a lot of the key decision makers have time to leave the office to view. Thirdly, many London properties aren’t as affected by the winter months as much as country properties, so buyers still have choice of openly available properties that haven’t been taken off the market until the daffodils shoot up in the spring.
Finally, many potential sellers are preparing for a launch in the first quarter of 2018, and many of these properties would entertain a ‘pre-market’ viewing.
